Halloween Safety Tips

Tonight is Halloween! For a safe and secure evening, follow these helpful tips:

#1: Turn off or unplug noisy decorations at night, as they could accidentally set off your Sonitrol audio-activated alarm.

#2: Take extra time to ensure all doors and windows are secured and locked. Halloween is a big holiday for both pranksters and thieves.

#3: Check exterior light bulbs and leave outside lights illuminated around your facility. Criminals like to hide in dark, shadowy areas before causing damage.

#4: Contact our Sonitrol team to run a test of your system to ensure all sensors are in working order.

#5: Download the Sonitrol Mobile App to view your network-connected cameras so you can monitor your facility when you are off-site or after hours.

Continuation of Security During PG&E Power Safety Outages

This month PG&E has disconnected power on several occasions as part of a Public Safety Power Shut Off prevention event in the wake of the California Wildfires. While much of the power has been restored, there are still more than 200,000 without power in Northern California as the wildfires continue throughout the state.

We sent out a notice earlier this month about how these outages may impact your Sonitrol system and wanted to share the content again with you below.

If you experience a power outage your system will run off the battery backup, which will last anywhere from a couple of hours to several hours. The amount of time your battery lasts will depend on the size of the system being powered. You will be notified in the event a low battery is received, or if the battery depletes and the system goes completely down.

With regards to the access doors; that depends on the type of locks they have. Strike locks will remain locked and mag locks, depending on how they were installed, may unlock during a power outage (you would need to check with the vendor that installed the lock hardware). Unfortunately we are unable to determine the type of lock hardware you have on our end. We do advise using a hard key to lock the doors when you leave for the evening if the power is out.
