Sonitrol Staff Spotlight: Welcoming a familiar face back to the Silicon Valley team

It’s been awhile since we featured one of our Sonitrol team members, so we’re using the return of this newsletter feature to introduce you to a returning employee – Anthony Alvarado.

Anthony first joined Sonitrol of Silicon Valley team in 2014 as an Operator. He was promoted to Service Coordinator in 2016 and served in that position until his departure in 2018. He made his return back to Sonitrol last month and has been hitting the ground running in this new position.

We asked Anthony a few get-to-know-you questions and below are his answers.

What is your new position here at Sonitrol?

I am joining Sonitrol as an Installation Coordinator.

What brought you back to the team?

I have always felt the position was something that I can do and I would enjoy doing. When I heard about the opening, I was excited and very interested.

What is your favorite part of the job?

I enjoy getting the new projects and assisting clients with setting up security at their place of business.

For a non-Sonitrol question, what are some of your hobbies and activities?

I enjoy reading, bike riding, and going to the beach with my family.

School Security Solutions

This time of year is usually a flurry with buying supplies and new clothes as part of the “back-to-school” routine. However, as many local schools are starting the year with virtual learning, buildings will remain unoccupied for the near future.

As we saw in the Apprehension Alert earlier in the newsletter, these empty schools are attractive targets for criminals.

Now is the time to review and upgrade the security at your school building. Take the time to install new solutions now to avoid disruption of classes and maintain limited contact with staff and students.

Incorporate automatic doors (touchless entry!) with a Sonitrol access control system, or install additional cameras (including thermal!) to monitor offices, server rooms, and other high-value areas.

Take a moment and check out our Shelter solution as well!

Current COVID-19 Procedures

July saw a number of changes at the state and county levels regarding restrictions and closures to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Sonitrol remains open during this time to serve our customers, and during this time, we are remaining committed to following the guidelines for businesses in Silicon Valley. This includes:
  • Capacity limits within our building
  • Social distancing, and
  • An ongoing commitment to hygiene: face coverings, hand washing, and sanitization
We’ve provided links below to keep you posted on the latest restrictions and guidelines for businesses in the Silicon Valley area.

Apprehension Alert

We saw a spike in apprehensions early in the pandemic, and unfortunately the numbers are still climbing.

Since the last newsletter, our operators have dispatched on 6 events resulting in the apprehension of 13 individuals.
We wanted to highlight the quick work of our trained operators and the South San Francisco PD for the apprehension of three individuals!

These trespassers broke into an area high school at the end of June, and within seven minutes of notifying police, law enforcement officers were on site at the school.

Operators heard movements within the building and followed protocol for verifying and dispatching police. As a result, three individuals were caught in the act!
